Dr. Michele Borba

Dr. Borba is an internationally recognized educational psychologist and parenting, bullying and character expert whose aim is to strengthen children’s empathy and resilience, and create safe, compassionate school cultures. A sought-after motivational speaker, she has presented keynotes throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific and served as a consultant to hundreds of schools and corporations including the Pentagon and 18 US Army bases in Europe and the Asian-Pacific.

Carolyn Strong

Carolyn is a motivational educator with an anti-bullying  message of hope for children, families and schools.  An educator with more than 10 years of experience working with inner- city youth, she is currently Dean of Students in a high school serving more than 2,100 young people. In this role as disciplinarian, she witnesses and confronts bullying daily by creating and implementing prevention programs in conjunction with traditional discipline.

Kaye Randall

Kaye Randall is a nationally known author and speaker who has led professional seminars throughout North America on student mental health, bullying, self-injury, depression, anxiety and anger – as well as youth leadership and student empowerment.  As a former professional development provider for the University of South Carolina, Kaye has inspired seminar participants through her practical insights, humor, and proactive strategies for helping children and adolescents. She continues to provide clinical services to both children and adolescents and has been named social worker of the year by the Council on Adoptable Children. She is co-author of See My Pain, Creative Strategies & Activities for Helping Young People Who Self-Injure (featured in USA Today), 102 Creative Strategies for Working with Depressed Children & Adolescents, and Mean Girls: 101½ Creative Strategies and Activities for Working with Relational Aggression.

Brad Chapin, LCP, LMLP

Brad is a masters level psychologist and a recognized speaker in the area of Self-Regulation. He is also the Director for Children’s Services at a regional mental health center. Brad has a passion for teaching parents and school professionals the importance of helping children develop healthy Self-Regulation skills. He continues to create innovative strategies utilizing technology to engage children in the process. Brad believes that Self-Regulation provides an easy-to-learn and easy-to-implement framework for addressing many of the problem areas children and families experience including ADHD, anger/behavior problems, academic issues, social/emotional problems, Autism Spectrum Disorders and anxiety/depression. Brad is the author of Helping Young People Learn About Self-Regulation and the creator of the Challenge Software (www.cpschallenge.com) program for children as well as the Self-Regulation Training Board.  His latest book, Helping Pre-Schoolers Learn Self-Regulation, was released to critical acclaim in 2016.

Tracie Berry-McGhee

Tracie Berry-McGhee founded the SistaKeeper Empowerment Center in St. Louis 12 years ago with the mission of empowering, inspiring and developing the mind, body and spirit of young women. SistaKeepers has since spread to other locations within the United States, as well as to Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.

Tracie also continues to serve the community via her private counseling practice, which specializes in women and teen girl issues. She is often called upon to speak on topics such as conflict resolution, dealing with low self-esteem and bullying. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Delta Sigma Theta “Power of 22 Award,” the African American Professional Organization of Women “Women of Distinction Award,” the Girls Scouts “Women of Distinction in Social Services Award,” the NAACP “Hometown Champion Award” and the University of Missouri “Outstanding Achievement and Meritorious Service to Education Award.” Tracie is the author of SistaKeeper Poetry for the Soul, I’m a Keeper and OWN your NOW.

Lisa King

Lisa King is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified School Counselor.  She is the author of Making the Link: Helping Students Link School Habits with the World of Work and Academic Advisement Program and has been published in the Georgia School Counselor Association Journal.  Lisa has served as an elementary school counselor for 15 years has been named Counselor of the Year in one of the largest school districts in the southeast United States.  She has also received awards for her writing and has presented at many conferences.

Daniel Rechtschaffen

Daniel Rechtschaffen, MA, LMFT is the author of The Way of Mindful Education and The Mindful Education Workbook. He is the founding director of Mindful Education, a mindfulness and social emotional learning platform for educators.  He organizes the annual Mindfulness in Education Conference and Teacher Training at the Omega Institute.

Daniel provides keynotes and mindfulness trainings at conferences, communities, businesses and schools around the globe.  He teaches mindfulness through music, sports, storytelling, games and other creative and engaging ways. He is inspired to utilize mindfulness to help us become more conscious, compassionate and committed to taking care of the miraculous world in which we live.

Can I receive Continuing Education Credit by attending this Conference?

Yes!

Developmental Resources is an approved provider for Continuing Education by:

    • Association of School Work Boards (ASWB #1053) This organization Developmental Resources, #1053, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. Developmental Resources maintains responsibility for the program.  ASWB Approval Period: (8/13/2016-8/13/2019). Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits.
    • National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC #5602) Developmental Resources is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP™) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.
    • We are approved to provide continuing education activities for Marriage & Family Therapists by the Texas Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.
  • Developmental Resources is an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for Licensed Professional Counselors in Texas by the Texas Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.

Do You Offer Partial Registration if You Are Unable to Stay for the Entire Conference?

We do not currently offer a one-day or two-day partial registration fee.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

If a registrant cannot attend any part of the conference, substitutions may be made - via mail, fax or email - by February 1, 2017. Registrations cannot be shared. Cancellations received in writing by February 1, 2017 will be refunded in full, less a $30 non-refundable processing fee. Refunds will be issued no later than 8 weeks after the conference in the same form that payment was received. After February 1, no refunds will be granted, but substitutions are encouraged.
